How Much Does Umrah Cost from the USA in 2026 and 2027?
A realistic breakdown of what Umrah costs from American cities, from economy packages to the last ten nights of Ramadan, and where your money actually goes.

The honest answer is that Umrah from the United States usually costs between $1,200 and $3,500 per person for a standard package, and much more in Ramadan. Where you land in that range depends on four things: your departure city, the season, how close your hotels are to the Haram, and how many people share a room.
Typical package prices per person
| Package level | 10 nights, regular season | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | $1,250 to $1,500 | Simple hotels with a shuttle in Makkah |
| 3 star | $1,400 to $1,800 | 10 to 15 minute walk to the Haram |
| 4 star | $1,700 to $2,300 | 5 to 10 minute walk, breakfast included |
| 5 star | $2,300 to $3,500 | A few minutes from the Haram |
| Ramadan, last 10 nights | $4,500 to $9,000+ | Peak demand, prices rise sharply |
These ranges assume four people sharing a room and include a return flight. Prices for two sharing are usually 20 to 30 percent higher per person.
Where the money goes
Flights
Return economy flights to Jeddah or Madinah usually run from about $850 to $1,400 from the East Coast and Midwest, and $1,100 to $1,600 from the West Coast. December, summer and Ramadan cost more. Flights are often the largest single cost in an economy package.
Hotels
Hotels are where prices vary most. A room near the Haram in a normal week might cost a few hundred dollars a night. The same room during the last ten nights of Ramadan can cost three or four times as much. Distance matters too: every few hundred meters closer adds to the price.
Visa, insurance and transport
The visa application, mandatory health insurance, airport transfers and travel between Makkah and Madinah usually add a few hundred dollars per person. The fees are set by the Saudi side and change from time to time, so we confirm them when you book.
How to keep the cost down
- Travel outside peak weeks. Late January, early February and the weeks after the summer holidays are often good value.
- Share a room. Quad sharing is the cheapest per person and works well for families.
- Mix hotel levels. Some pilgrims choose 5 star in Makkah and 3 star in Madinah, where hotels are closer together.
- Book Ramadan early. Prices for Ramadan rise every month as the date gets closer.
- Be flexible with your airport. Driving to a larger hub can save $100 to $300 per ticket.
Costs people forget
Budget for meals that are not included, laundry, Zamzam bottles at the airport, tips for transfer drivers, a local SIM or eSIM, and gifts. Allowing $30 to $60 per person per day is sensible for most families.
